Introduction to Learning Styles
Did you know that there are 293 different combinations of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, 50-cent pieces, and dollar coins that could be used to make change for a $1.00 bill?
Just as there many ways to “make change” for a $1.00 bill, there are various methods people use for learning. Different people will have distinct preferences for learning methods.
And, as no combination of coins is bad (unless you don’t care for the weight of 100 pennies in your pocket - 😊), no Learning Style is better or worse than any other, just different.
Knowing and understanding your learning style can help you learn in the most effective way.
If you are a parent, knowing and understanding your child’s way of learning can help you assist your child to learn, to understand, and to retain what they learn, more effectively.
This workshop will present the following:
Introduce some different learning techniques.
Identify some typical characteristics of people with each learning style.
Suggest approaches to successfully help people with a specific preferred learning style to learn more effectively.
After this brief workshop, attendees will understand the different ways people learn and will be able to understand what techniques might work best for them and for school-aged children in their families. They will also learn some methods to help some neuro-divergent learners and, from examples, that being non-neuro-typical is not a barrier to success.
