Leadership Basics: An Introduction
What is a leader?
The terms Leadership and Management are often used interchangeably. The functions are sometimes considered to be equal and interchangeable.
They are not.
Both functions are critical to organizations’ success, but they are separate and distinct functions.
Leaders are people with willing followers.
People follow leaders (usually) because they want to, not because they have to.
Why do some people have willing followers when others do not?
Are there certain characteristics that make a good leader?
Introduction to Leadership will:
Explain similarities in leadership and management.
Explore differences between leadership and management.
Define some Leadership Styles - How you lead your team
Introduce Leadership Powerbases - Why your followers follow you
Attendees to this workshop will learn the differences between management and leadership, the attributes of some key leadership styles and appropriate situations for each style, and how some leaders inspire their followers.

Participants in this workshop will understand the strengths and weaknesses of some key leadership styles, benefits and drawbacks of each leadership power base, and have an opportunity to practice this knowledge and understanding.
