Team Building

While working as a part of a team is now a “fact of life”, too few understand that designating a group of people who will work together on a project does not make them a team. Gathering these people into a conference room and stating (something on the order of) “Okay, now I want you to work together as a team to get this project completed” also does not create a team.

The term “team” has, unfortunately, come to be used for any, and all, groups whose members are working on the same project. So, what is a team? Positive Concepts founder, Dr. Schwartz, defines/describes a team as follows:

“A team is an organized group of individuals working together to reach a common goal."

The basic course offered here will explain/examine the stages of a team, from commencement through conclusion. The more advanced courses will offer techniques and tools to assist team leaders in leading their teams through the phases of team development and improving team efficiency and team effectiveness.

The Basics of Teams

Many people think that just putting a group of SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) together and providing them with a task to accomplish makes them a team.  This, unfortunately, is far from true. This basics course will introduce:

  • What a team is.

  • The stages that all teams invariably go through.

  • Different types of team.

This introductory course is presented in a Lunch & Learn type time frame and format.
